In 1985 Brother Ernie Sims established and gave the church its first name, which was Fellowship Baptist Church.  The Fellowship Bapstist church was based on the gospel of Jesus Christ, his death, burial and resurrection according to the scriptures.

The first service was held on December 22, 1985 with three members in attendance (Bro. Ernie Sims III, his wife Alice and their son Ernie Jr.)

The then William A. Green was contacted by Brother Ernie Sims by way of Evangelist Andrew Hamilton to consider coming to Tallahassee to pastor the Fellowship Baptist Church. Pastor William A. Green came to Tallahassee and preached for the first time on January 11, 1986. The services were held at the Griffin Heights Recreation Center on Basin Street in Tallahassee, Florida.

From January to April 1986, William A. Green, his wife Virginia Green, and family commuted 255 miles from Sanford, FL to Tallahassee to preach bi-weekly at the Fellowship Baptist Church.

On January 31, 1986, the members selected Brother Ernie Sims as church leader and Randy Frazier as his assistant until William A. Green became the pastor.

On March 2, 1986, the members voted to add the word “Independent” to the church name, thus naming the church “Fellowship Independent Baptist Church”.

On April 27, 1986, William A. Green was voted in as the Pastor of the Fellowship Independent Baptist Church.

On May 4, 1986, a special business meeting was held for members to join the church as chartered members. Those members included: William & Virginia Green, Ernie & Alice Sims, Randy & Mary Frazier, John & Pinkey Hutchins, Ervin & Dorothy Miller, Angie Williams, Betsey (Washington) Hamilton, Carl Miller, Estelle Braham, Emma Cline, Flora Rose, Gloria Robinson and children of those listed.

In September 1987, Pastor William A. Green and members purchased the property and church site where they currently worship located at 651 South Adams Street in Quincy, Florida.  In September 2000 the church site and property were paid in full.
